Day Trips To Take From Kirkland

September, 15 2021

Summer might be winding down, but who says your exploring has to stop? With so many incredible locations just a short drive from Kirkland, a day trip is the perfect way to go on an adventure, year-round! Here are a few of our favorite day trip spots!

Woodinville

You may overlook Woodinville as a day trip spot because of its proximity to Kirkland, but we are here to tell you it is the perfect little getaway! We like to call Woodinville, Washington’s Napa Valley. Woodinville boasts some of the world’s most incredible wines and wineries, and it is right here in our very own backyard. Grab a few friends, pack a cheese and charcuterie picnic and enjoy the day at the many wineries and tasting rooms. One of our favorites is Chateau St. Michelle. There is always a tour, event, or special tasting going on that you can attend. Check it out here: https://www.ste-michelle.com/visit-us/chateau-experience

Mount Rainier

On any given day we may be lucky enough to see Mount Rainier peaking out. We are also lucky enough that visiting the majestic National Park is only about a two hour car ride away! The active volcano is a must see up close, and you can make it happen and be home all in one day. For a small fee, you can drive in and enjoy 275 miles of maintained trails and 120 miles of roads. We recommend clicking through their website and planning your trip accordingly before you visit! https://www.nps.gov/mora/faqs.htm

Leavenworth

Another two hour drive from Kirkland will transport you to a Bavarian village right here in Washington. Leavenworth will allow you to enjoy a little slice of Europe, without ever having to get on a plane. With plenty of dining, shopping, and activities, Leavenworth has something for everyone. If you are going to visit, this time of year is really special with Oktoberfest and Christmastown festivities. Visit their website to plan your next trip! Leavenworth.org

Gig Harbor

Gig Harbor is the perfect place to take a couples day trip! Just an hour from Kirkland, this picturesque maritime village provides a small town feel right outside the hustle and bustle of city life. You can take a nice long walk and learn about Gig Harbor through the Waterfront History Walk. Keep strolling and visit the many boutiques for a unique shopping experience, and end the day at one of the tasty waterfront restaurants.
