One of Kirkland’s many hidden gems, is the creative talent that exists in our city. We are continually in awe of what the constituents of Kirkland are creating. That is why this week’s blog post is highlighting one of our favorite hidden gems - The Kirkland Performance Center.

If you have yet to experience a show or event at the KPC, we highly recommend you do so. The 394 seat theater allows for a large audience, however the way the theater is designed helps maintain the intimacy of the theater. The farthest seat in the house is only 13 rows back, literally 40 feet from the stage. There is no bad seat in the house!

The Kirkland Performance Center has been contributing to the culture of our city since 1998, when it first opened after ten years of fundraising. With over 1,000 local donors, all wanting to bring the arts forward in Kirkland, the vision turned into a reality. With the help of the entire community, including many volunteers and community leaders, $5,800,000 was raised to build what we know of today as the Kirkland Performance Center.

Since then the Center has provided a space for people to share ideas, engage in art, theater, film, music, and so much more. As avid supporters of local arts we can attest that the KPC has been successful in fulfilling its mission, vision and values.

“Mission: To provide a gathering place where people come together to express themselves creatively, exchange ideas, share culture, and connect with one another.

Vision: For KPC to be a community where people of all ages, incomes, and backgrounds are uplifted, inspired, and connected to one another through performances and shared experiences.

Values: Accessible for all ages and incomes, provides a breadth of performance; music, dance, theater, film, lectures etc., reflects the diversity of the community.”
